Drishya Mainali is a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Medicine and Health, The University of Sydney. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Advanced Medical Science with a major in Neuroscience, receiving the Dean's List Award in 2022. During her Honours in Medical Science, she investigated the association between extracellular vesicles (EVs) and the myeloid cell receptor TREM2 in Multiple Sclerosis under the supervision of Associate Professor Laura Piccio. After gaining valuable experience as a Research Assistant, she commenced her PhD in March 2024 supported by Research Training Program (RTP) stipend scholarship. Her current research focuses on elucidating the role of EVs in Multiple Sclerosis pathophysiology, with particular emphasis on characterising their proteomic and lipidomic profiles using mass spectrometry techniques. She is also an active member of the Student Network on Extracellular Vesicles (SNEV) committee.
