ABOUT US

The Australia and New Zealand Society for Extracellular Vesicles (ANZSEV) was established as a collaborative approach to understand EVs. Our goals are to promote the understanding and translation of EVs through an active national and international network and to create a common platform for members interested in EVs and nanoparticles. The society supports and guides the ANZEV Scientific Meeting to provide an unsurpassed, world-class scientific program that focuses on regional advances in EV biology and technology, with broad impact and specific interest to delegates and Industry partners. Additionally, the ANZSEV provides a platform for researchers in our region to interact globally with other networks with similar interests.

ANZSEV was launched on January 31, 2020, in Auckland, New Zealand following the 4th Australasian Extracellular Vesicle Conference (AEVC). At the prior AEVC meeting (Sydney, 2018), attendees were asked to consider establishment of a formal society, and this idea was formalised in Auckland. Past AEVC meetings included (i) Cairns, Australia (Nov 2014, 89 attendees); (ii) Lorne, Australia (Feb 2017, 103 attendees); (iii) Sydney, Australia (Nov 2018, 159 attendees); (iv) Auckland, New Zealand (Feb 2020, 115 attendees).   Following a vote of those attending the conference,  the organising committee of the Auckland meeting form the initial interim ANZSEV council and in consultation with management company ASN have identified objectives and established the society.

ANZSEV promotes all aspects of diversity across the society and is committed to ensuring that everyone can contribute to and benefit from our society’s activities. We pledge to provide equitable opportunities for participation of our members and amplification of underrepresented and marginalized voices within the scientific community. We welcome open discussion of issues related to diversity and inclusion and require all members to consider diversity in the organization of society events.
