Dr Cherie Blenkiron is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland. Her research focuses on the discovery of biomarkers for monitoring of cancer patients and through the identification of new biological targets for therapeutic intervention. These studies include the development of blood EV capture devices and the genomic analysis of EV cargo and their recipient cells in order to elucidate their functions in disease states including cancer and infection. She is the Associate Director of the Auckland-based Hub for Extracellular Vesicle Investigations (HEVI) that was established in 2018 to support and promote local EV based research. Cherie is also an Asia-Pacific representative Member-at-Large for the International Society for Extracellular Vesicles.
