Dr. Caroline Reddel is a research fellow at the ANZAC Research Institute, associated with the Cardiology department at Concord Hospital in Sydney and is an affiliate of the University of Sydney. She has a background in cell biology through her PhD on the effects of extracellular matrix proteins on airway smooth muscle cells. Her current research focuses on the role of abnormal blood clotting and extracellular vesicles in diseases including cardiovascular disease, with a particular interest in the biogenesis of EVs from platelets in disease conditions. She works closely with both the Cardiology and Haematology departments and other patient cohorts of interest include patients with schizophrenia, diabetes, pulmonary embolism, cancer and coronary artery bypass grafting. Caroline is also involved with investigating the involvement of the cardiovascular system in healthy ageing.
