Dr. Camila Espejo is a Universidad Austral de Chile-trained veterinarian and PhD from the Devil Immunology Group at the University of Tasmania School of Medicine. She brings a background in wildlife medicine and disease ecology to her PhD research, which focuses on the investigation of extracellular vesicles in Tasmanian devils. Her investigation aims to develop EV-based approaches towards a preclinical diagnostic test for the transmissible Devil Facial Tumour Disease. Her research interests are veterinary immunology and oncology, mass spectrometry techniques, and harnessing the potential of EV approaches for veterinary medicine and wildlife science. As the Early Career representative, Camila works to build connections and voice the needs and ideas of other early career researchers.
