A/Prof Andrew Rowland is an academic in the College of Medicine and Public Health at Flinders University and a Cancer Council Beat Cancer Mid-Career Research Fellow. Andrew leads a dynamic team of scientists undertaking cutting edge research to maximise the utility of extracellular vesicles circulating in blood as a source of biological information in human. His team developed the capacity to selectively isolate and characterise liver derived extracellular vesicles from blood and have demonstrated the utility of these circulating liver specific extracellular vesicles with respect to predicting drug exposure and the severity of liver disease. Andrew is an active member of the Australian extracellular vesicle and pharmacology communities, serving as chair of the 2023 ANZSEV meeting and as a board member for the Australasian Society of Clinical and Experimental Pharmacologists and Toxicologists.
