Prof Andy Hill is Associate Provost Research and Industry Engagement (College of Science Health and Engineering) at La Trobe University and heads a laboratory in the La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science (LIMS). His laboratory works on the understanding of molecular mechanisms underpinning neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and prion diseases with an aim of translating fundamental discoveries into the design of novel therapeutics and diagnostics for neurodegenerative diseases. His laboratory investigates the role of extracellular vesicles in neurobiology, particularly relating to neurodegenerative diseases, and in biomarker discovery and translation using EVs. He was the founding Director of the La Trobe Research Centre for Extracellular Vesicles, and served on the Executive Board of the International Society for Extracellular Vesicles, including as President (2016-2020) since 2012. He is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Extracellular Vesicles.
