ANZSEV MINI-SYMPOSIUM
EXTRACELLULAR VESICLES in Ageing & Metabolism
Thursday 13 June, 2024, 10 am – 1 pm AEST / 12 noon – 3 pm NZST
Please join us for a virtual symposium focussing on extracellular vesicles in the context of physiology, ageing, and metabolism. This short format 3 hr symposium will be held on Thursday 13th June, 2024 from 10.00 am (AEST) / 12.00 pm NZST and features presentations from a range of local and international researchers.
Register here by June 12 to receive a link to the meeting.
PROGRAM
Organising Committee and Chairs: Hamid Bidkhori, Sai Chitti, Jason Howitt, Farha Ramzan, Caroline Reddel, Jereme Spiers, Natasha Vassileff
Keynote
Dr Nikki Noren Hooten, National Institute of Aging (NIH)
Her research uses an integrated, interdisciplinary approach to study how oxidative stress, post-transcriptional mechanisms and other pathways contribute to health disparities, aging and age-related diseases. Recently, she has been interested in utilizing extracellular vesicles as non-invasive biomarkers of aging and age-related diseases and further understanding how various age-related diseases alter extracellular vesicles cargo and function. She poses these questions in the context of human aging through her work with the Healthy Aging in Neighborhoods of Diversity Across the Life Span (HANDLS; https://handls.nih.gov/) study.
Invited speakers
Dr Tara Walker (Queensland Brain Institute)
Prof Mark Febbraio (Monash University)
Dr Jereme Spiers
Dr Paula Miotto
Dr Mee Chee Chong
